Top 10 Books I've Read In The Past 2 Months

Dear Reader,

Top 10 Books I've Read In The Past 2 Months

1. Skulduggery Pleasant Series by Derek Landy
So, basically, this series is about a skeleton detective, Skulduggery Pleasant, and his apprentice, Valkyrie Cain, who basically spend their free time saving the world. '-' Ya should read it. XD

2. Paper Butterflies by Lisa Heathfield
This novel is about a girl named June. June's life at home is similar to Cinderella's life, replacing the dead father with racism and abuse that goes by unnoticed by others. Then June meets Blister, a boy from a big and loving family and Blister gives June a glimmer of hope that there may be a way to get away from the abusive family she lives with. I'm going to warn you: this novel is very sad, so make sure you have some tissues nearby.

3. Wilder Girls by Rory Power
Everyone loses something to the Tox: Hetty lost her eye, Reese's hand has changed, and Byatt just disappeared completely.
It's been eighteen months since the Raxter School for Girls was put in quarantine. The Tox turned the students strange and savage, the teachers died off one by one. Cut off from the mainland, the girls don't dare wander past the school's fence where the Tox has made the woods wild and dangerous. They wait for the cure as the Tox takes; their bodies becoming sick and foreign, things bursting of them, bits missing.
But when Byatt goes missing, Hetty will do anything to find her best friend, even if it means breaking quarantine and braving the horrors that lie in the wilderness past the fence. As she digs deeper, she learns disturbing truths about her school and what else is living on Raxter Island. And that the cure might not be a cure at all...

4. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
A teenage assassin, Celaena Sardothien, is given a chance at freedom. But at a cost: she has to participate in a competition to become the King's Champion. But something else is coming alive in the castle, killing off other champions, and Celaena is caught in the middle of it all. Battling her feelings towards two different, kind men, Celaena has to find out who is behind all these killings before she, herself, is killed. Thrilling and suspenseful, with a touch of romance, this novel is one that you'll find yourself reading over and over again. (Plus, it's part of a series). ;)

5. Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
An anxiety disorder disrupts fourteen-year-old Audrey's daily life. She has been making slow but steady progress with Dr. Sarah, but when Audrey meets Linus, her brother's gaming teammate, she is energized. She connects with him. 6. Wonder by R. K. Palacio
"Don't judge a book BOY by its cover HIS FACE." That's what you must think when you read this novel about a boy, August Pullman, who was born with a facial difference that usually prevented him from going to any public school. But this year, he's starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, where he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid. This novel is very sad, but by the time you finish reading it, you'll see the world in a different way. I suggest you give it a shot. (And when you're done reading it, watch the movie).

7. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
First book in the Caster Chronicles series, you are plunged into the lives of Ethan Wate, a boy haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met, and Lena Duchannes, a mysterious girl who is struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. 'In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.' I suggested this novel to RPU -- she still has yet to read it. It is an amazing novel. You'll have to read it slow at first, or you'll miss hidden secrets within the story.

8. The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks
Ira Levinson is in trouble. Ninety-one years old and stranded and injured after a car crash, he struggles to retain consciousness until a blurry image materializes beside him: his beloved wife Ruth, who passed away nine years ago. Urging him to hang on, she forces him to remain alert by recounting the stories of their lifetime together -- how they met, the precious paintings they collected together, the dark days of WWII and its effect on them and their families. Ira knows that Ruth can't possibly be in the car with him, but he clings to her words and his memories, reliving the sorrows and everyday joys that defined their marriage.

A few miles away, at a local bull-riding event, a Wake Forest College senior's life is about to change. Recovering from a recent break-up, Sophia Danko meets a young cowboy named Luke, who bears little resemblance to the privileged frat boys she has encountered at school. Through Luke, Sophia is introduced to a world in which the stakes of survival and success, ruin and reward -- even life and death -- loom large in everyday life. As she and Luke fall in love, Sophia finds herself imagining a future far removed from her plans -- a future that Luke has the power to rewrite... if the secret he's keeping doesn't destroy it first.

Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common, and who are separated by years and experience. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.

9. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
Samantha Kingston, a popular high school senior, takes February 12th ("Cupid Day") very seriously. She believes it is a day of valentines and roses and all the perks of being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is... until she dies in a terrible accident that night. And then wakes up the next morning. Reliving the last day of her life seven times, realizing that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined. I suggest you read the novel before you go grabbing your TV remote. Trust me. The novel is way better than the movie. :)

10. Things I Should Have Known by Claire Scovell LaZebnik
Meet Chloe Mitchell, a popular Los Angeles girl who's decided that her older sister, Ivy, who's on the autism spectrum, could use a boyfriend. Chloe already has someone in mind: Ethan Fields, a sweet, movie-obsessed boy from Ivy's special needs class.

Chloe would like to ignore Ethan's brother, David, but she can't -- Ivy and Ethan aren't comfortable going out on their own so Chloe and David have to tag along. Soon Chloe, Ivy, David, and Ethan form a quirky and wholly lovable circle. And as the group bonds over frozen yogurt dates and movie nights, Chloe is forced to confront her own romantic choices -- and the realization that it's okay to be a different kind of normal.
