Top 10 TV Shows To Binge During Quarantine

Dear Reader,
I don't watch TV much -- when I do, I usually watch movies. But there are a few TV shows that I have enjoyed lately. Check 'em out!

1. Shadowhunters
Shadowhunters is a fantasy show based on a series of young adult books by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments series). You don't need to read the series to understand the show, but I highly suggest you do -- I'm a bookworm, so I'll always suggest you read the books before the movies/shows. :)

On her birthday, Clary Fray discovers a surprise concerning her life. The teenager is not who she thinks she is -- she comes from a long line of human-angel hybrids, called Shadowhunters, who hunt demons. After her mother is kidnapped, Clary is thrust into the world of demon-hunting. Clary relies on mysterious Jace and fellow hunters Isabelle and Alec to help her navigate the dark world. While living in this new world among creatures like vampires and werewolves, Clary's best friend Simon helps her uncover answers that could help her find her mother.

2. Bob's Burgers
This is a really funny TV show to watch if you want a good laugh. Which I feel is something we all need in this quarantine.

Bob Belcher is a third-generation restaurateur who runs Bob's Burgers with his loving wife and their three children. Bob believes his burgers speak for themselves and isn't afraid to offer a variety of off-beat creations. Bob's wife, Linda, supports his dream but is becoming sick of the slow times, as the restaurant is constantly in danger of going out of business. The main competition to Bob's Burgers is a pasta joint located across the street that is run by Bob's nemesis, Jimmy Pesto. Despite the challenges, which includes consistent harassment from Linda's ex - a health inspector - Bob tries to keep the grill sizzling.

3. Ridiculousness
This show is similar to TruTV's Top Funniest, except that you get to see the reactions of the hosts: Rob Dyrdek, Steelo Brim, and Chanel West Coast, with an occasional guest.

Don't be ridiculous! When it comes to Internet videos run amok, however, the more zany, unbelievable and downright dangerous the clips are, the greater chance they'll be shown on this series. It features amateur viral videos being critiqued by MTV personality Rob Dyrdek, who knows a thing or two about pushing the envelope from his pro skateboarding days. With commentary from Sterling "Steelo" Brim and Chanel, Dyrdek breaks down the clips by putting them in such categories as "Hot Mess," "Worst Case Scenario," "Redneck Good Times" and "What Happened Last Night." It's sure to be seriously ridiculous.

4. Married at First Sight
This one's filled with so much drama, you'll be addicted the moment you start watching. My parents were the ones that introduced me to this show, and I will say, it's hilarious and fun to watch.

The cart comes way before the horse in the reality series "Married at First Sight." The show features people who agree to participate in an extreme experiment: Each covenants legal marriage with a complete stranger. Specialists -- including a spiritualist, a relationship coach and a sociologist -- use scientific matchmaking methods to determine each couple, who will not have met or had contact with each other until the wedding day. The series then documents the relationships, including honeymoons and other relatable events of married life. After several weeks, each couple must decide whether to remain together or go their individual ways.

5. Siren
I have never actually watched this TV show, but I've always wanted to. :)

Legend has it that Bristol Cove was once home to mermaids. Now, this coastal town has a mysterious new visitor in a girl named Ryn, who may just prove that all of the stories are true. Ryn catches the eye of local marine biologist Ben, and when he begins to show interest, fellow marine biologist Maddie becomes suspicious. Others in town, like deep sea fisherman Xander, are on a quest to discover the truth that is out there, and Helen, the town eccentric, knows more about the mysterious creatures than she lets on. The battle between man and sea takes a dangerous route as these predators seek to claim their birthright.

6. Beyond
I have just recently started watching this TV show and let me tell you, it is amazing. You've got romance, mystery, and paranormal all in one. :)

When Holden wakes up from a coma that lasted 12 years, the young man discovers that he has new abilities, which land him in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. Now that he is out of his coma, Holden must figure out what happened to him during the past dozen years and how to survive in the world that has changed significantly while he was in his coma. But perhaps the biggest question of all is why it happened to him. As Holden tries to adjust to adulthood -- all he remembers is being a child -- mysterious Willa warns him not to trust the people around him.

7. Nancy Drew
I found this one when I was browsing for new shows to watch. You already know me and how I adore reading novels. And yes, I have read some of the Nancy Drew books. Not the whole series -- I really wanted to, though, I just didn't have all the books in the series. But if you enjoy mysteries, watch this show.

Nancy Drew is a brilliant teen detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine -- until her mother's untimely death derails Nancy's college plans. Devastated by her mother's passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can reapply to college. But when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene: Nancy's nemesis from high school, George Fan; a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin; Nancy's secret boyfriend, Ned "Nick" Nickerson and amiable burnout Ace. The five of them must team up to clear their own names, encountering emotional entanglements and even more mysteries along the way.

8. Switched at Birth
I had watched some of the episodes of this TV show about a year ago, but then the episodes changed from free to rent or buy, so I couldn't continue watching it and I slowly forgot about it. I strongly recommend this show to those entertained by drama and surprises, plus a tad of romance. ;)

Bay Kennish is a teenager who grew up in a wealthy family with two parents and a brother. Fellow teen Daphne Vasquez, who lost her hearing at an early age, was raised by a single mother in a working-class neighborhood. One day in her high-school chemistry class, Bay discovers that her blood type doesn't match either of her parents'. Official tests confirm that Bay is not her parents' birth child. When the Kennish family meets Daphne and her mom, Regina, they realize that the girls were switched at birth. The news prompts the Kennishes to allow Regina -- who is experiencing financial difficulties -- Daphne and Daphne's grandmother to live in their guest house. The two polar-opposite families struggle to learn how to live together for the sake of the girls, who try to keep their footing in both the world they know and the new one into which they are thrown.

9. Motherland: Fort Salem
I saw a commercial advertising this show and I immediately fell in love. I love how the three girls are completely different when it comes to personality and power, and yet they team up and get along.

Three young witches with basic training in combat magic prepare to defend the country against looming terrorist threats by using supernatural tactics and weapons.

10. Miracle Workers
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, this TV show is hilarious. I've never watched any of it, but I've seen plenty commercials advertising the show and I am debating to binge it this weekend. XD

Frustrated with the current state of Earth, God has pretty much given up to focus on petty hobbies. Thinking the end might be near, two determined angels try to change his mind. Craig and Eliza, low-level angels responsible for handling all of humanity's prayers, must convince their boss to save humanity and answer their most impossible prayer yet: help two humans, Laura and Sam, fall in love. The seven-episode limited series, based on Simon Rich's book, "What's in God's Name," turns the perception of heaven upside down while also making the case that humans are worth saving.
